29/07/2009(OFT) vowed to ensure the government did not harm long-term competition in the banking sector in its efforts to shore up financial markets and sell state-owned bank assets. In a plan, the Office of Fair Trading said this year we will concentrate on promoting fairness between the financial credit industry and its customers and recommend choice and competition. The OFT said will they will work with the government to ensure that any short-term actions to stabilise financial markets will not unduly distort competition over the long term plan to return banks to the market, are pro-competitive.
