The Average House Price In The North East Of England Has Fallen Below £100,000
30/01/2012In England and Wales, the average property went down in price by 1.3% across the whole of 2011 to around £160,000.
But in the North East, an area affected by public spending cuts and high unemployment, prices fell by 7% in 2011 to around £99,500.
In the County Durham recorded the biggest price falls was in Hartlepool. An average of 17.5% to £77,188.
Prices fell by the same level as 2004 and not much above the £66,000 figure of 1995.
One borough in London, Kensington and Chelsea, has average prices of nearly £1m after a 7.2% rise to £968,950 throughout 2011. But not everywhere in London saw a price rise. Figures reveal that the \'Olympic\' borough of Newham, may have expected a rise in buyers, was one in eight districts to see a full capital in 2011.
The Land Registry also published data on sales, that indicate nationally, the property market remains in a sad state of affairs, compared to the booming years before 2007.
